What a GREAT day! We were SUPER busy again today! Exploration Place was here with our science lesson we missed on Monday! We learned all about the different kind of rocks from them! It was really neat making the sedimentary and igneous rocks examples from a crayon. We worked more in reading on our story by listening to it while we tried to put important sentences from the text in order. This activity is sometimes kind of hard for us, but today when we listened ALMOST all of us were able to master the skill! We decided our reading book could be a GREAT tool to help us if we didn't catch it all listening.
We also worked really hard this morning on learning to add a little "flavor" to our writing! We all got to examine a candy bar. We had to draw a picture of the wrapper and then write a simple sentence from the perspective of a candy bar. Most of us started with sentences as simple as "I am a Twix". However, once we added the flavor and spiced it up some we got pretty creative. Lots of really good adjectives made our sentences MUCH BETTER! For our last rewrite we FINALLY got to eat the candy bar so we could taste the deliciousness and make our writing that much better! In math we worked to conquer those silly detective clues again. Mrs. Jenkins sure doesn't like it when we "GUESS" rather then reading the clues and using what we know to help us solve the mysteries. She was able to find a solution a lot faster then us today and we sure better not let our TEACHER beat us anymore!
I hope to encourage the children in my classroom to love learning the way I do. Through engaging them in meaningful activities I am certain they will develop a curiosity that will spark their imagination and cause them to want discover all they can while in third grade. I hope to be able to share, with those of you at home, everyday what we have accomplished in the classroom! Trust me, we will be doing AMAZING things!
