What a GREAT day! We were extremely busy so much so that I heard "Oh man it is already lunch!" and "Gee Mrs. Jenkins I can't believe it is already time to go home!". Teachers LOVE days like that. We worked a lot on graphing today. Some of the kids had some TERRIFIC bar graphs that they will be bringing home tomorrow. We talked about the vertical axis and the horizontal axis. Each day they surprise me about what they understand and they are asking EXCELLENT questions! In science we reviewed the difference between rocks and minerals and then collected data about our COOKIE ROCK. The class loved that they got to eat these rocks when they finished the data collection. They all used a spring scale to find the mass an are SUPER excited to tell Ms. Greer from Exploration Place all about it on Monday.
Please remember that tomorrow is:
-a spelling test so review those words tonight
-our class bartering day so bring what you wish to trade
-our first class store after payday exchanges are made so be
ready to see what your child finds to buy
Thanks for another GREAT day!
Things they might have to finish tonight:
1. Bar Graph from the teacher reading center
2. Science cookie rock data collection page
3. Rounding Random numbers math sheet
4. Journal page 18A and 18B
I hope to encourage the children in my classroom to love learning the way I do. Through engaging them in meaningful activities I am certain they will develop a curiosity that will spark their imagination and cause them to want discover all they can while in third grade. I hope to be able to share, with those of you at home, everyday what we have accomplished in the classroom! Trust me, we will be doing AMAZING things!
