In reading more of them worked with me on their living museum piece. I only have a couple more students to work with and this will be ready to go for next Wednesday! They are all getting very excited about it. Please be sure they are practicing their lines and that they are working on a costume between now and then. If they need help finding a costume let me know and I will see what I can dig up. The thrift store is always a wonderful place to shop for events like these!
We also worked on our 10 important sentence activity and read or listened to the story one more time. Tomorrow morning some of us need to finish our oobleck coloring sheets because our day just didn't seem long enough!
In math we worked more on adapted mind. I am so EXCITED to see so many of them getting close to being done with third grade curriculum. Two kiddos are already on to fourth grade curriculum which is AWESOME and others are very, very close. Trust me that practice will pay off for them. I have loved watching their little minds working to solve some of the problems they are coming up against. We have sure GROWN this year into some GREAT problem solvers! They also worked with Mrs. Zeka on a checking account activity. They practiced filling out checks for various items and also making deposits after earning a little money for helping me out. Keeping an account balance can be hard sometimes, but boy oh boy does it make your life easier in the long run. With me they worked more on those silly parenthesis that make such a difference in an answer. Today we found so many different ways a player could score 10 points in a basketball game. Even if the athlete can't hit a three pointer, those field goals and freethrows quickly add up! Our last math center dealt with fractions! We made a fruit loop necklace and then had to write some fractions to describe it. The denominator stayed a 25 no matter what because that is how many TOTAL fruit loops we had on our necklaces. What a GOOD afternoon snack too when we finished!
Today at lunch my February players of the week went with me to Big Cheese. We had a FUN time for sure and filled up on lots of pizza! Congratulations Matthew, Steven, Katelyn, and Laurell. You guys have done a GOOD job in the classroom so keep it up!
Tonight they might have to finish:
1. A journal page
2. 10 important sentences
3. English page 22-23
4. A baseball timeline morning work page
Have a SUPER evening and try and STAY WARM. I am sure ready for some SPRING weather!
