A little from the Jenkins team....
Today was a GREAT day! The kids seemed super excited to be here and get things going in third grade. They were excellent listeners when we talked about the classroom procedures. Some of them even offered some awesome ideas we can try! We did take a spelling pre-test today. Not to worry these scores do not go in the grade book. It just lets me see a sample of their handwriting and them see what words they need to be studying over the next two weeks. I will staple a list in their agendas tomorrow so that you at home can see what words I will be testing them over. Please be sure to sign up for remind 101 if you have not done that. Directions on how to do this were in the open house packet and tomorrow I will send home another copy just so you all have one. We ended the day with some cool, refreshing popsicles because after all we did deserve a treat! Thank you for sharing your children with me. I am looking forward to an AWESOME year.
A little from the Elder team...
It was an amazing day. We had so much fun going over the new routines and rules for third grade. The kiddos did an amazing job of asking questions and following directions!! It's a day of a lot of talking and listening so I was so EXCITED when I heard them say "this is the best class ever!!" This was music to my ears! :) The next best quote of the day was "this day went super fast." Well kids...time flies when you're having fun! We spent the day going over Whole Brain Teaching (make sure to ask them about it), our class website, reading & math centers, and daily routines. We were also able to learn a little about each other through a game! Of course we had to finish the days with popsicles because, let's face it, it's super hot outside and we worked hard today! I can't wait for a WONDERFUL year!!
I hope to encourage the children in my classroom to love learning the way I do. Through engaging them in meaningful activities I am certain they will develop a curiosity that will spark their imagination and cause them to want discover all they can while in third grade. I hope to be able to share, with those of you at home, everyday what we have accomplished in the classroom! Trust me, we will be doing AMAZING things!
