We started the day off with our Halloween PARTY! I thought their COSTUMES were AMAZING and they were so proud of all of them that most of them decided to stay in them ALL DAY which was totally fine! For our party we:
-paraded around the school in the PARADE OF COSTUMES
-carved pumpkins which was FUN and they turned out SUPER
-had a PUMPKIN ERUPTION which was really COOL ~ After owl pellets
yesterday, we decided we all could handle a little PUMPKIN PUKE =)
-raced to build a MUMMY which were harder then we thought! Miss Ally
and Miss Kayee were our class winners so they received some EXTRA
-and finally ENJOYED lots of DELICIOUS snacks!
We took a quick 30 minute PE break after our party and then headed to BROOKDALE to give the residents a HALLOWEEN treat we had made for them. I was SUPER proud of their behavior while we were there. They all did a GREAT job and everyone at Brookdale seemed so appreciative! As the kids handed out their goody bags, they told them Happy Halloween and then talked to them and showed off their costumes! We will have to do more of this for sure! I heard one of them on the way back to school say, "I am not near as cold as I was when we were walking there. I guess my insides really did warm up when that lady smiled at me and said thank you!" We had talked alot about the feeling you get when you know that you have made someone SMILE and this kiddo had been listening and definitely felt that feeling today! Nothing makes a teacher happier than that for sure!
This afternoon we started with our MYSTERY READER... Mr. Dieker... came and read us a FUN HALLOWEEN STORY! We really enjoyed it and loved his SCARY VOICES. Then he gave us each a spider ring and a pencil! He figured we had already had lots of treats and since he paid the dentist bill for 6 kids himself he told us he was thinking of our parents with this TREAT! =)
After music we held our OCTOBER AR CELEBRATION! We enjoyed some very YUMMY caramel apples and watched HOCUS POCUS. It was a GREAT way to end the day for sure! NEW AR points will run from OCTOBER 30th - November 23rd. We will have our next AR party right before THANKSGIVING break. I would ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT if EVERYONE in GOTHAM CITY would qualify. I keep reminding them that they can test on books they read, books I read with them, books I read to them, and even books you read together at home. I set their GOAL based on their reading level and the opportunity they have to earn points at school with me, but I promise their GOALS are very achievable so please ask your kiddo if they are doing their part to get qualified!
This weekend the only things they need to do for school is:
1. Show you a note I stapled in their agenda about activities we are having
2. Fill out their COMMUNITY APPLICATION if they are planning on applying
for a NOVEMBER JOB.
3. Clean out their TAKE HOME FOLDERS and their BACKPACKS
Have a safe HALLOWEEN!
