Whew! It's November already! We have been hard at work! We've been working through module two in MATH, and are just about done with measurement. In READING, we are working on nonfiction stories and studying landforms. We are comparing and contrasting different features of these landforms. In WRITING, we are finishing up our personal narratives and getting ready for Flat Stanley!
My name is Mrs. Jenkins, and I teach 3rd grade at Eisenhower Elementary. I love spending time with my family and being outdoors. I have been married to my husband for 27 years and have two great kids. Ryan (24) is going to be teaching 6th grade social studies here at Wellington Middle School. I am super excited to hear all about his classroom! Kailey (22) is teaching third grade at Enterprise Elementary School in Wichita! We do some team planning together on the weekends which is a lot of fun for me!
I attended Butler County Community College for one year and Emporia State University for 2 1/2 years where I received my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. Upon the completion of my Bachelors degree, I resided in Topeka, Kansas and taught middle school for 2 years. After having both kids my husband and I decided to move closer to our hometown and we officially became Wellington Crusaders! Since moving here, I have had the opportunity to work in the middle school, fourth grade, fifth grade, and now third grade. I feel change is a good thing and that as long as I continue to learn myself I am able to offer a great environment for my students. I have also obtained my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from Wichita State University.
I have always had a soft spot in my heart for educators. Both of my parents were teachers and my heroes. I have wanted to be a teacher since I was a third grader myself. I absolutely love what I do and try very much to carry that passion in to my classroom. I work to provide a mixture of activities, group projects, as well as individual work for my students. My goal in the classroom is to provide students the opportunity to gain knowledge through exploration. I pride myself in working to ensure that each child has the opportunity to reach his or her full potential while having fun learning in my classroom. I feel communication plays a vital part of this success and will work hard to see that you at home know what is happening in our room.
I look forward to a great year in 3rd grade!!
Thanks for taking time to look at the class webpage, and have a wonderful school year!
I am also a grandma to Miss Addison Jenkins and I love her to pieces! Her grandpa and I like spoiling her rotten and seeing just how much trouble we can get in to from her mom and dad!
Hello! I'm Mrs. Day. This is my fourth full year teaching, and my third year teaching in Wellington. I received my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Oklahoma State University (Go Pokes!). After finishing college, I taught for 1.5 years in Oklahoma.
I am originally from Caldwell, so I'm very excited to be close to my family and hometown.
My family is a huge part of why I became a teacher in the first place. My dad, both of my older sisters, and lots of aunts, uncles, and cousins are educators, too. I've wanted to be a teacher for as long as I can remember, and I can't wait to share my enthusiasm for learning with my students.
When I'm not at school, you can find me coaching 7th grade girls volleyball in the fall, volunteering at my church, or spending time with my husband, Colton and our Border Collie, Ruby.
I believe communication between school and home is an integral part of a child's education, so feel free to contact me with any questions. I look forward to a great year with you!
